An Open Book
(Ceramic book sculpture series)
Since 2014, I’ve been creating an ongoing series of life size hand-sculpted, kiln fired, ceramic sculptures of books.
The sculptures pay tribute to the power of storytelling, both through reading and writing, and acknowledge books as an object of connection.
It’s through this act of slowly recreating the books, often taking longer on the sculpture than it did for me to read the book, that I allow myself the time and space to reflect on them.
